STING'S SNUB IN 'KARAOKE' ROW
ROCK legend Sting last night refused to accept Simon Cowell’s challenge to make a guest appearance on The X Factor.
Furious Simon threw down the gauntlet during Saturday’s live show after the former Police frontman launched a bitter attack on the talent contest.
He branded it “karaoke” and claimed the contestants would never become real stars.
Simon, 50, said he was disappointed and invited Sting, 58, to appear on the programme and show the wannabes how it is done.
But last night the veteran singer’s spokeswoman Regine Moylett said: “I reckon that Sting has probably said everything that he wants to say about The X Factor.”
In an angry outburst, Simon labelled the bearded superstar “pompous” and added his comments made him sound like a “snob”.
He said: “The whole point is that all the contestants are here because doors have been slammed in their faces from record companies so they need an opportunity.
“They deserve a break. It really frustrates me when someone who has had a ton of hit records is sitting in his stately home saying: ‘I don’t think you contestants deserve a break.’
It’s really, really snobby.”
