DEAD SNOW

ABOVE: Dead Snow
4th September 2009

By Alan Frank

IF you’re looking for a ghoulish take on the Second World War and don’t fancy sitting through two-and-a-half hours of Quentin Tarantino’s tedious ego trip Inglourious Basterds, then this gleeful shocker should be just your cup of blood.

Director Tommy Wirkola quickly gets down to the grisly business in hand which begins when a group of medical students go on an Easter break in a remote cabin in the mountains.

The luckless vacationers accidentally bring a legion of dead Nazis back to life and face a terrifying bloody ordeal at the hands of the German zombies.

The scary stew of dismemberment, gore and giblets is tastily flavoured with acidic black comedy in the hugely entertaining style of The Evil Dead and a horrid time is had by all.

It’s witty, gruesome, grisly and great fun too.

DEAD SNOW (18)
E1 ENTERTAINMENT

VERDICT: 7/10
