BANKS ARE PAST LAW

28th July 2009

ALISTAIR Darling tried to get tough with the banks yesterday.

He called them in for a dressing down over their profiteering.

Banks have ramped up the cost of loans to firms and families while interest rates are at an historic low.

Yet billions of pounds of taxpayers’ cash have been pumped into the banks to stop them collapsing.

Huge loan charges mean people struggle to get mortgages.

Businesses have been unable to get credit to survive or expand.

The Chancellor says he is “extremely concerned”.

But don’t expect  any real change from his attempts to tame the banks.

Mr Darling promised to end the short-term bonus culture in the City, blamed for fuelling the credit crunch.

But still the lavish salaries and perks continue to be dished out.

Under this feeble Labour Government, our banks have become a law unto themselves.
