STORE BRA WARS

ABOVE: Asda’s £4 lingerie bust-up
7th May 2009

By Daniel Bird

A SUPERMARKET giant has joined the big bra debate and declared: “One price fits all.”

With the credit crunch in mind, Asda’s brand George is selling a £4 bra to “support shoppers’ wallets and their busts”.

They are the same price for sizes A to F, and the move follows criticism of Marks & Spencer for charging bigger-busted women more for lingerie.

Fiona Lambert, George’s brand director, said: “Retailers should put an end to one of the last prejudices, that of the bigger-busted woman.

“No-one would dream of charging one price for size seven men’s socks and a different price for a man with larger feet.”

Beckie Williams, 26, who launched Busts For Justice on Facebook, said: “M&S don’t do it for other items of clothing so I don’t understand the logic.”

An M&S spokesman said: “Our bras are much less expensive than many other retailers.”
