WHILE Bodies was a perfectly good/morbid pop song, sonically it wasn’t groundbreaking -and it was certainly no crowd-pleasing Angels.
JLS are bonafide pop sensations these days and riding the crest of the British urban-pop wave.
AH, the Camden trio lament a hottie they met in a club who disappeared before they got chance to get their digits down.

ALBUM - THE TEENAGERS: REALITY CHECK

ABOVE: Brilliantly crafted music
17th March 2008

By James Cabooter

HUMOUR and nostalgia are the key ingredients behind this Parisian trio's simple but arresting music.

Adopting the blissfully alternative lo-fi sheen of early Smashing Pumpkins coupled with dry witty lyricism of Mike Skinner (albeit with a Gallic twist),  like your first French kiss or first holday without the folks, Reality Check is a joyous debut to savour.

Casual sex, infatuation, infantile jealousies, school trips are their key concerns with lead teenager Quentin (who is anything but) murmering in a charming half spoken half sung fashion over chugging stand-out moments Make It Happen and Sunset Beach.

But overall this is brilliantly crafted music that evokes emotional reactions, the aural equivalent of a John Hughs Brat Pack film like Pretty In Pink, it'll make you feel young, footloose and fancy free again.

C'est magnifique.
