MURDER ACCUSED AMANDA KNOX TOLD COURT SHE ‘HATED’ BRIT KERCHER

MURDER accused Amanda Knox “harboured hatred” for Brit student Meredith Kercher, a court heard yesterday.

And the American “killed her to take revenge in a drug-fuelled evening,” the Italian prosecution claimed.

Giuliano Mignini, prosecuting, also told the court Knox, 22, was “dominant” in her relationship with ex-boyfriend and fellow accused Raffaele Sollecito, 25.

Both deny the murder and sexual assault of Leeds University student Meredith, 21.

She was found semi-naked with her throat cut after allegedly refusing to take part in a sex game with them and Rudy Guede, 22.

Mr Mignini, summing-up the prosecution’s case, said: “Knox and Sollecito arrived at the house with Guede. Meredith was there and the evening began to degenerate.

“Meredith and Amanda argued over money. Meredith was also upset that Amanda had brought another man back into the house.

“They argued about this ugly habit of hers, and the three who had arrived were also under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”

Mr Mignini added: “Amanda didn’t like her, she didn’t like her friends because they were critical of her habits. 

Amanda harboured hatred for Meredith and that night the time had come for her to take revenge.”

Meredith was found dead in the house she shared with Knox in November 2007 in Perugia, Italy.

Mr Mignini outlined the horrific violence Meredith had suffered before she died.

He claimed: “Amanda grabbed her by the hair and hit her head on the floor. Rudy finished what he did (sex) and Sollecito was threatening her with his knife.

“Amanda also had a knife and held it to the left side of Meredith’s throat and as the crescendo of violence grew, inflicted the deepest cut. Meredith did not want to submit to the sexual violence.”

As he spoke Knox appeared to be in discomfort and took several deep breaths. Guede has been sentenced to 30 years for sexual assault and murder.
