ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: GOSS MEETS PIXIE LOTT

ABOVE: Pixie with our Goss girl Jessica
18th November 2009

By Jessica Brown

WHEN we were offered the chance to have some one-on-one time with Pixie Lott we knew it was going to be fun.

The 18-year-old singer is not only sexy, stylish and super talented she’s also incredibly down to earth, despite having two chart topping singles and an MTV award already under her belt.

Fresh from winning a gong at MTV’s glamorous Europe Music Awards we grilled Pixie at the launch of the new Nokia Illuvial Pink Collection, which she’s the face of, at The Carphone Warehouse.

What’s the best thing about the last 12 months?

“The best thing that’s happened to me so far is hiring out a private jet for my single launch and flying around the world in it. I took all my mates, they absolutely loved it. I try to include my mates as much as possible.”

Have you had any weird or surreal fan moments?

“Not really, although I get mobbed by fans sometimes. Recently at a Manchester gig they were all waving their hands in my face and ramming paper in front of me, which can be a bit daunting. Some send me presents like teddy bears but I mainly just get letters, which is great.”

Who’s the best celeb you’ve met?

“I’ve never met any of my idols, I’d absolutely love to meet Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. I would love to meet Stevie Wonder.”

What did you think of Whitney’s performance on X Factor this year?

“I didn’t see her sing on X Factor as I was really busy at the time travelling and working. I heard about her dressing falling apart, what a shame. I’m really lucky, nothing like that has happened to me yet. Infact, I was really pleased to meet Lionel Richie, he’s so cool, such an inspiration. He told me “Just enjoy life”.  After all these years he seems to still really enjoy what he does.”

Did you get his phone number?

“Er, no. As if. I would never ask him, could you imagine?”

Do you have many celebs on your mobile?

“Tinchy Stryder, Marvin from JLS, Natasha and Daniel Bedingfield, DJ Ironik…just a few, you know.”

The video for your single Cry Me Out is really sexy – are you comfortable being overtly sexy?

“I never think of myself as sexy. I never feel sexy when it’s happening and we’re filming. I just get into the role and throw myself into it.”

What do you think of artist like Lady GaGa who flaunt everything they’ve got?

“I think fair play to her. She looks really great in everything she wears and why not? I think she’s cool, and she is doing her own thing.”

Would you like to following in fellow singer Lily Allen’s footsteps and launch a clothing range?

“I love doing fashion shoots and modelling clothes, I’d love to do my own fashion range. In fact it’s something I’m dying to do. I’ve had a few offers so hopefully.”

What would your style be?

“I love studs, so I’m really into all the studded clothes at the moment and big woolly cardigans and funky hair accessories. I would love to draw my own designs, I’d only make clothes I’d want to wear. I think fashion is exciting.”

Did it take you ages to pick your outfit for the MTV awards?

“No I always leave everything until the last minute. I chose my dress about 20 minutes before it started. I did my make-up in a tiny toilet sink on the aeroplane. No  I always leave everything until the last minute. I chose my dress about 20 minutes before it started. I never get stressed about stuff like that."

Do you get loads of freebies now?

"The goodie bag from the MTV awards was unreal. It came in a suitcase, full of stuff. It was the best part. Actually, sitting next to the Jonas Brothers was great, they're really hot. But, I’m really lucky as Dolce & Gabbana send me stuff, Mulberry, Moschino, all kinds of designers, my sister loves it as she can borrow everything.”

Do you go out partying much?

“I used to go out more than I do now, We usually just go out to a music bar in Shoreditch with my mates or to Nandos. I like just chilling out with my mates.”

Do you have any secret crushes?

“Robert Pattinson is hot. I love his character Edward Cullen in Twilight although I’m not sure if I’d like to met him in real life.

I’m not really bothered about dating anyone famous, I quite like the idea of going under the radar and hanging out with someone normal.”
