KEEP FAITH WITH FOSTER

ABOVE: Ferguson may give Foster another chance
7th November 2009

By Daily Star Reporter

SIR ALEX FERGUSON is searching the world for Edwin van der Sar’s successor.

But he should give Ben Foster another chance.

There’s not many good goalkeepers around nowadays.

Okay, Foster has made some mistakes – but every goalkeeper makes mistakes.

When you are at a big club like Manchester United the mistakes you make are even bigger. But when Foster played against Croatia for England a few weeks ago he made a couple of great saves and that could have been just what he needed to get himself back on track.

The problem for players like Ben Foster is that it’s virtually impossible to step into the shoes of a great goalkeeper.

Manchester United struggled to replace Peter Schmeichel before buying Edwin van der Sar from Fulham – and now they are facing the same problem again.

It’s a lot more difficult for keepers nowadays with the lighter balls and the strikers are probably better finishers today.
