GOODBYE, GORDON...

30th September 2009

SARAH Brown for Prime Minister! Gordon’s wife charmed and captivated as she introduced him to the Labour Party conference.

And her performance inspired her husband into delivering one of the best speeches of his career.

Mr Brown was in bullish mood, promising “to change the world” and “fight, fight and fight” to stay in power, but he is still doomed.

He wooed voters with a blizzard of policy promises, such as free childcare for lower-income families.

Mr Brown could hardly have done better.

But one hour-long speech isn’t going to save him from the effect of 12 years of incompetent Government.

When voters go to the polls next year, his conference bluster will be long forgotten.

Instead, they will be thinking of rising unemployment, stealth taxes, the wrecked pension system, unlimited immigration and the collapse of the banking system.

Mr Brown may have got a standing ovation, but his speech was just a defiant death rattle.

Guarding the scum

We’ve got no sympathy for the Simmons family.

They have had violent threats following the inquest into the deaths of mum Fiona Pilkington and her disabled daughter Frankie.

Teenager Alex Simmons is said to have led the gang that terrorised the pair for months.

In despair, Fiona burned herself and Frankie to death in her car.

Now Alex’s brother Ross says the housing estate where they live has turned on them.

“This is harassment,” he wails.

It’s about time that people rose up against scum like the Simmons.

Yesterday the police were guarding their house after one emergency call.

How shameful that the Leicestershire force didn’t give the same protection to the Pilkingtons after their 33 pleas for help.

Whose side are they on?

Comic strip

Lucy Pinder is to be made into a Marvel Comic superhero.

You can guess what her secret weapons are likely to be!
