SET LIST: CONCERT FOR CARE, BRIXTON ACADEMY, LONDON

ABOVE: ON SONG: Speech Debelle
4th November 2009

By Halina Watts

MAGICAL music and laugh-out-loud comedy is what life is all about.

This event to raise cash for Care - an international relief and humanitarian organisation - saw the big names in music and chuckles come together.

Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle skipped along the stage to heartfelt tune Bad Boy, while curly cutie Beth Rowley let torrents of soulful sounds escape her mouth.

Deafening screams welcomed Gary Barlow as women let off orgasmic wails for Patience, and as Rule The World finished the applause suggested the sexy Take That chap can do just that.

Despite his full moon thanks to David Walliams’ comedy sketch, Mark Ronson dusted down fresh trousers and grabbed pals Daniel Merriweather, Simon Le Bon and Kaiser Chiefs for some of his Version hits.

But it was Ricky Wilson and the Leeds lads’ own slot including Oh My God and I Predict A Riot that really raised the roof.
