COLL’S A DIAMOND GEEZER

ABOVE: Collingwood is keeping his head down
6th November 2009

By Rodney White

PAUL COLLINGWOOD is staying clear of mind games ahead of England’s opening match of their South African tour.

England start against the Diamond Eagles today and home skipper Graeme Smith has tried to stir things up after his side recently lost to England in the Champions Trophy.

But asked whether there was any added tension, Collingwood said: “No, not at all.

“I think there have been a few comments in the press but we’re 100% focused on what we need to do.

“I’m sure Smith will come out with a few quotes that might get the opposition a bit niggled.” The 33-year-old added: “But we don’t need any more motivation.”

ANDREW FLINTOFF has signed a three-year contract to play one-day cricket for Lancashire.

The England all-rounder retired from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes to focus on the 50-over game.

Flintoff, 31, is recovering after surgery to his right knee in August.
