CABLE WILL SPLIT

ABOVE: Chief executive John Pluthero
6th November 2009

By Daily Star Reporter

TELECOMS group Cable & Wireless yesterday said plans to split the business into two were back on, only to see the news overshadowed by a profit warning.

Shares dialled out 9p to 139p after it said a slump in Caribbean tourism had sent demand for its services there tumbling.

C&W also disappointed investors by not revealing details of plans to split the business between Worldwide – Europe, Asia and the US – and International, which provides telecoms in the Caribbean, Macau and Panama, among others.

Chief executive John Pluthero said full details of the demerger would be revealed by the end of this month.
