IT HAS TO BE HAYE
DAVID HAYE can come out on top against Russian man-mountain Nikolai Valuev in his world title bid in Nuremberg tomorrow.
That’s the firm view of fellow Brit Carl Froch, the WBC super- middleweight champion, who told me: “I have no doubts at all – it’s David for me.”[>

Haye challenges the WBA world heavyweight champion, 36, with a clear physical disadvantage against the 7ft 2ins, 23-stone giant.[>
[>
But Froch believes all of that will count for nothing.[>
[>
“David has all the skills to escape any kind of trouble that he may encounter. I honestly think David will stop him,” he said. [>
[>
“He has plenty going for him even though he is meeting an opponent who is just so much bigger and so physically stronger.”[>
[>
Froch, 32, knows all about Haye, having competed against him at amateur level early in his career.[>
[>
“There were times when we were in the England squad and met each other and I couldn’t lay a hand on him,” he said.[>
[>
But Froch warned: “He has to be wary of the size of Valuev – and because of his size this guy will have an effect on anyone that his punches may land on.”[>
[>
And he predicted: “It could end up in a late stoppage in David’s favour or maybe, and this could be most likely, a points decision for our man.”[>

DAVID HAYE v Nikolai Valuev is on Sky Box Office tomorrow from 8pm.[>
